The Community Strategy 2003 - 2006

In 2000, the Local Government Act placed a duty on all local authorities “to prepare a community strategy for improving the economic, social and environmental well-being of their area…. working in partnership with all sectors of their local community”.

It took 18 months of close partnership working with local organisations, agencies, voluntary and community groups (called the Gosport Partnership) to put together Gosport’s first Community Strategy, which was launched, at the Gosport Partnership Forum in 2003.

The purpose of the strategy is to improve the quality of life for people who live, work or visit Gosport.

The strategy sets out how the Gosport Partnership is going to improve Gosport by dealing with the issues you have told us are important to you.
