Local Area Agreement
A Local Area Agreement provides a single framework through which government departments can allocate additional funding to local authorities and their partners. Their aim is to reduce and simplify funding streams and give more scope for local authorities to concentrate on local priorities. The funding focuses on the themes of children and young people, safer and stronger communities, and healthier communities and older people. Twenty one localities in England have been chosen to pilot this initiative.
Hampshire has been developing its LAA and the final submission to GOSE was signed off by the LAA Board at the end of March 2006. The Hampshire LAA will begin on 1st April 2006, apply for a three year period, and be subject to an annual refresh.
The final submission, action plan and more information on the Hampshire LAA can be found on Hampshire County Council ’s website - www3.hants.gov.uk/localareaagreement
The Gosport Partnership is currently looking in detail at the LAA action plan to identify opportunities for funding streams to benefit the Gosport community. The Partnership will then feed this back to Hampshire to ensure that Gosport’s needs are taken into account in the annual refresh of the LAA.
